So... what is Love?!

Love is a word we see & hear everywhere, yet despite being so widespread, it seems to have an increasingly broad and watered down meaning.
Whenever I need to refresh my understanding of love, I revisit one description that's often even heard at weddings :D
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.
When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
(1 Corinthians 13:4-13)
These words are quite clear in describing what love is and also what love isn't and perhaps many would agree with this.
Yet, how to accurately interpret and possibly live out these words?
God is Love
The Bible does not say that God is like Love but that He is Love.
Therefore, anything and everything that God is.... is actually Love!
So it's important to know what God is really like then?
Jesus was sent to earth to reveal the nature of God to humans as a human being Himself while at the same time being God :D
Jesus Christ = the most accurate picture of Love
Jesus is the living description of the words from Corinthians.
If someone gives you a definition for love that includes anything less or differs from this, don't believe it.

JESUS CHRIST IS LOVE!
To know love is to stand face to face with Jesus.
Look into His eyes and see the perfect unconditional love He has for you which also lives inside of you!
It is Love/Jesus that transforms, that heals and that awakens us to our true identity as beloved sons or daughters.
We don't need to be confused about love ever again!
We don't need to strive for our love to match the Corinthians verse.
Knowing Jesus (the Word of God) and being known by Him, the One who loved us from the beginning, we 'naturally supernaturally' live out the Corinthians words.
We are living testaments!
Taste & see the Lord is good :)
God's Love is awesome, healing & satisfying to name only a few aspects. There is no worthy opponent.
The biggest act of Love ever seen... when Jesus lay down His life for us, conquering sin and the finality of death.
Jesus died because He/God so loved the world!
There is not much difference between these two statements:
God just being Himself - LOVE - has no competition. No contrary thought, knowledge or power can ultimately stand up to Him (again conquered once for all time!), even if not every person realizes this yet or lives under the influence of a lie.
Freedom from pain
A few years back when I was praying for relief from a physical pain, I experienced the most beautiful, peaceful sensation flowing through my body that seemed to melt the pain away.
I felt like a baby protected in the womb, better than ever!
I was at rest experiencing God's presence- this was God's Holy Spirit releasing me from pain- this is Love.
God's Love brings rest. His Love brings us life to the fullest.
This is Christ's gift to us, our inheritance.
Rather than mustering up and striving to produce love, this is a letting go/surrendering to experience and discover the Love that's always been there.
The embodiment of Love
Much the same way a child is created as the embodiment of the love of parents coming together in union, we are the embodiment of the Trinity's Love (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). We are God's children.
We are light and love.
Why don't we all know this? We haven't realized it yet or awakened to it's fullness! You don't need to study love, you don't even need to work for this Love - - just look into the face of Jesus, that is the only education in love you will ever need. Don't settle for anything less because nothing in or even out of this world will ever beat this Love!

I bless you with the most WILD encounters with Perfect Love (a.k.a. Jesus)... that will forever shake you & explode your love paradigm... to greater heights and depths than you can ever imagine!!
