Props, perks, position?

Because Daniel knew God as His provider & the source of everything, he was able to not only withstand certain death in the Lion's den, he wasn't needing to grasp for the props, perks & the position thrown his way. It was God's grace and glory to give Daniel great authority & bounty but the source was God, not man.
Daniel 5:16-17
16 I heard of you, that you could show interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if you can read the writing, and show me the interpretation, you will be clothed with purple, and will have a chain of gold around your neck, and you will be the third ruler in the kingdom.
17 Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, Keep your rewards for yourself, and give your gifts to another: yet I will read the writing unto the king, and show him the interpretation.
